'I know we're excited to have him hired as the head coach of the New Lexington Panthers.' Dave Rupe, who went 14-26 with the Panthers the past four seasons, had his resignation accepted during the December board meeting. He wanted to focus on his family and faith, but knows the program is full of positives with upgraded facilities and its community service. 'I'm excited to watch my kids play youth sports and follow their activities and to be more involved with ministry and mission trips,' Rupe said.

Rupe started his football coaching career as a New Lexington assistant from 2003-06 and was approved by the school’s board of education to replace retired coach Bill Nutt recently. He was on the staff the previous time the Panthers won the Muskingum Valley League after a perfect 10-0 regular season in 2006.

Since its inception during the 2016-17 school year, the Blessings in a Backpack program has provided on average over 200 per week or between 5-6,000 meals over the course of the school year. Food items are purchased through the program then bagged and are available for students to pick up at their discretion at the end of each school week.
