If you can't change the resolution of your display because you can't see an image, restart your Mac in to reset the display resolution to defaults. If starting in safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, reset your Mac's and to reset the video ports on your Mac to their defaults. Make sure your display resolution in System Preferences is set to its default.

I noted the link in your other post, and to me it doesn't just look like a display brightness thing. It looks like a different device gamma.

You won't believe the number of prints/ink I wasted in futile attempts to get everything to match. The problem was the Spyder instructions said to reset all monitor settings to factory presets, then start the calibrating process. I would think that might be your problem. Try Carl's suggestion, lower the brightness. Not any higher that 130 luminence as Godfrey has. (mine is around 110) I will hear you jump for joy when it comes out right.
